Post-Holiday Roundup

…and that was Christmas. We made it, did you?  Happy “It’s All Over” Day, dear readers.  I hope you had a lovely holiday with your friends and families, as did we.  We spent Xmas Eve with Joe’s family and then jumped in the car Xmas Day and drove to Ottawa to spend it with mine.  Always a good time but I honestly have to say, we’re always just as pleased every year to finally reach the 27th and say “It’s all over” and get back to a bit more of a normal life.  We love seeing everyone, spoiling the family anklebiters and the excitement of the holidays, but we’re pretty well “visited out” and are looking forward to having life revert back to its normal (well, normal for us), smutty self.

As we have the place to ourselves again for the time being, Minaphiles be advised the spycams are back on again.  Thanks so much for your understanding when we had them off while my dad was here, and remember the ShowerCam is still put away as he’s coming back.  I always take it right down and put it away — he knows what we do (although only enough to say we’ve been honest with him — certainly, no details nor would he want anyway) and having a webcam in his face (even a turned-off one) is a mite too much info for my dear old Dad.

Speaking of “too much info for family” but just about right for you, here’s a look at last Thursday’s XxxMas smoking fetish action I shared with SmokingMina.com members:

As to the haul, Joe and I agreed to frugality this year but that never seems to impede him from spoiling my ass off, as always, with a MASSIVE load of my favorite kind of teeny-tiny tank tops and “just a little too tight” t-shirts that we all know I LIVE in, plus assorted odds and ends and a frankly fabulous long black tank dress I can’t wait to try on.

I got him “Cowboys & Aliens” on Blu-ray (watched it last night — pretty good) and a PS3 Move Assault Rifle that I wasn’t sure of, but that he seems to like:

We haven’t made a lot of time for Dead Space 2 lately (and have actually lent it to his nephew) but this looks kind of kickass and I’ve been meaning to get back on that little bitch pretty soon anyway.

As my dad was here with us for the first Xmas in eons (having spent the last 20 with his fomer wife or her family), I got my dad a pretty sweet Montreal Canadiens jersey (yeah, a real one, not a bootleg) that he seems to like.  It was nice having him here and he seems to have enjoyed himself at the brother-in-law’s with us Xmas Eve.  Even a small family dinner on Joe’s side often means 20 people and at Xmas, there’s even more so I’m always a BIT concerned he might feel overwhelmed or out of place (my dad is extremely shy) but “family” to Joe’s family means literally EVERYONE — if you’re married to, shacked up with, or dating one of them and/or related to anyone who is, in any way, guess what?  You’re family too, with no qualifiers.  I’m Joe’s, Dad’s mine, thus he’s family too.

And that right there is the difference between the Italian definition of “family” and the French-Canadian.  And before anyone skewers my ass — I AM French-Canadian and I know damn-skippy how snooty we/they can all be.  One case in point was my Aunt Kay, my Uncle Roland’s wife — 50 years with the man AND died in his arms, yet it’s still specified that “well, not that they were really ever married.”  If fifty years of putting up with a man, his bullshit (and as much as I loved my uncle, I’m told there was quite a lot of it, most of it alcohol-related), and the rest of his family, doesn’t make you someone’s fucking wife, nothing will, least of all a piece of stupid paper or the dubious word of a priest.

French families need a reason to consider you family.  Marrying in is not always one — a frequent sentiment in my family is “Well, she married HIM, that doesn’t mean we have to bother with them.”  Italians need a reason NOT to include you — like maybe you’ve taken an axe to other members of your family and we’re a LITTLE worried about whether or not the children should see you.

We French are a snooty goddamn bunch, but I’m relieved to say that 5 years with Joe has generated in me a desire to more of the latter sort.  I love how Joe’s family conducts its shit and it’s been kind of my mission in life for the last few years to show my own snooty-and-proud family that “Hey, look!  Did you know some families get together to just actually VISIT and chat and get to know each other and keep in touch and NOT just to re-hash the most negative things that have gone down over the last 30 fucking years, especially after whoever we’re currently bashing this week leaves the room??  Wow, neato, keeno!”  You know, not that I’m bitter about this or anything.

And this just in — between the beginning of writing this post and nearing the finish of it, my sister just called and said they’re bringing my father back today.  We’d left him in Ottawa to visit there a day or so, now with a snowstorm coming tonight, she thinks they should do this before it hits.  Meaning, they’ll be here in about 3 hours.  I was going to get a XxxMina update in and do my camshow tonight, but so much for that.  Cams will be off again, in a few hours, until my father is gone.

Thanks again for your understanding, Minaphiles, and happy holidays.

Mina xoxoxo
