I cannot even express how horror-deprived I feel lately. Hollywood has been pumping out the usual crap for so long that I’m too the point of actually breaking down to see a couple of remakes. Normally I avoid them like the plague (honestly…come up with your own ideas, assholes), but the pickings have been awfully slim. I think the last truly decent horror movie I could actually respect was last year’s The Orphange. No real gore, but there was a nicely creepy storyline and the acting was quite good. France’s Inside of this year was pretty good too with a FABULOUS amount of gore (spare me that PG-13 shit — if you’re going to do it, do it right and splatter me, damn you) but a disappointingly stupid ending. So come on, Raimi and do me right!!
Tomorrow night will likely be a quiet one as our plans include (probably) junk food we shouldn’t eat and Game 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs. It still kind of sucks that all the Canadian teams have been eliminated, but the Pens have a good Maritime boy (maybe you’ve heard of him, the Crosby kid?) so I guess I’ll take for them. I actually think their goalie’s pretty cool too (and is also a Canadian), although he’s probably the SKINNIEST one I’ve ever seen. Caught Fleury in an interview one night after a game, and ok sure, maybe he IS 6’2″ but he just looked skinny to me!! Kickass goalie though.
And yes I do recognize and respect the Red Wings’ skill — they’re always fun to watch although I felt a little bad when Chicago was eliminated..they worked hard and have a great young club — but for some reason, cannot feel any affiliation for them at all. So, go Penguins!!
