Which brings me today’s little moment of “Happy, happy!  Joy, joy!”  I hired a cleaning lady for the first time in YEARS and can’t believe it took me this long to do it — I used to use one periodically when I was dancing full-time, but now that I’m working almost the same amount of hours as back then (or ahem…SHOULD be), it’s become seriously necessary.

Only to do the heavy stuff like dusting, floors, and the bathroom — I can wipe my own counters, change my own sheets and at some point, I really will clean the friggin’ microwave.   I’ve been meaning to this for eons, because despite the workload of running 3 sites, a video store, and a blog, I’m still a clean freak and can only tolerate a certain amount of filth before losing my mind and wanting to take everyone with me.  I get pissed, blow off work-stuff, and end up cleaning when I should be doing things that will actually bring in the money to HIRE this shit out.

As I’ve said many times before, getting naked on the internet is the least of what I do — I’m not a paid model, I’m a webmistress.  And my conundrum is this:  I actually like what I do enough that I would prefer to work than clean the house.  And running websites is like running any business yourself, be it a corner store or a clothing store:  there is always SOMETHING to do.  But I’ll still go crazy if we don’t maintain a certain standard.  I mean, I’m here 90% of the time.  It’s where I live, work, hang out, relax, entertain friends, fuck, sleep, shower, etc.  It’s practically my whole world, my little haven, and I have to be able to enjoy it, in order for it to fulfill its role as “sanctuary.”

But I have no desire anymore to play housewife enough to maintain that standard.  Sure, there will still always be things I’ll do myself, but fuck it.  Why blow that 6 hours a week of backbreaking labour, when I’d rather be sitting here working on more important stuff?

And I provide employment for someone else.  COOL.

Just sitting here yapping mindlessly about this one stupid thing qualifies as “work.”  I’m keeping in touch with you guys.  I’m tweaking traffic every time I post.  Which theoretically should trickle on over to the banners to our sites or links.  Which could result in either sign-ups or the fulfillment of my traffic-trades.  See?  Porn works in mysterious ways, boys and girls.
